The Sunday Syndicates Post – Vol. 4, Issue 18

Far Above The Law capped off a good July for Syndicates.Racing owners as he became our latest winner of the season. The 2yo son of our very own Far Above broke his maiden on just his fourth visit to the racetrack and his first since his gelding operation.

It was his first try at 6f and to us he may have even looked value for a step-up to 7f in the future. He’s a big, strong imposing individual who we hope will continue to progress for Alice Haynes and his owners. He provided JC with one of his better wedding present as he provided him with a winner on the eve of his wedding.

Our other Far Above called Far Beyond ran an absolute stormer on just his 3rd start to finish second in a decent race for our French faction.

He looks another progressive sort and is not to far away from breaking his maiden for trainer Tim Donworth.

Jana off to Cork

Jana Colombe will make her second visit to the track tomorrow in Cork and her first start over hurdles. She ran a credible 5th behind our very own Ellen Kelly on debut and we feel that she’s a mare who will progress with a trip and an obstacle being a half sister to multiple Grade 1 winner Gerri Colombe. She faces stern test on her hurdling debut with the very talented Aurora Vega making her hurdles debut. Sharp Object owners are very familiar with that rival having faced her on three different occasions during her bumper campaign.

Can lightening strike twice?

It’s well documented at this point that we purchased Ellen Kelly at the 2022 Tattersalls Ireland July Store sale for juts €13,000. This year we went back to the same sale to see if we could pull off the same feat.

She cost a little bit more, but not much, than Ellen which I thought was seriously good value for what she is. A daughter of superstar sire Nathaniel she is bred on the exact same cross as the Champion mare Enable for a very good and interesting family. However, it was her physical which really caught my eye. I saw her the day before she went in the ring and as soon as she took her first couple of steps I just went “wow”. She has an absolutely fantastic walk, just a real lovely loose moving filly who tracks up really well. She’s got a lovely demeanour as you can see from the above video and with a pedigree like hers she has all of the right attributes to become a lovely dual purpose mare.
