Our 2025 Naming Word Cups have really upped the ante with another barn storming name winning the final easier than Constitution Hill in the Unibet Hurdle on Saturday! We’re always adamant that a good horse needs a good name and given early reports from Ross O’Sullivan we think that this lady might just be that.
From a deep female family our gorgeous Shirocco mare shares her daddy with Champion mare, Annie Power. She’s a half sister to two black type horses namely multiple Grade 2 Winner, A Great View, and the Graded placed Roll It Out from the deep “Liss” family which has been responsible for the likes of Liss A Paoraigh, Blazing Liss and Next Destination to name but a few. Ross says she’s one of his most forward 4yo’s and were going to “fire ahead” to the 2025 Defender Bumper at the Punchestown Festival.

I can hear you barking at your screens telling me to get on with it and say the name already. The gaeilgeors amongst you may have copped the couple of hints throughout the article so delighted to announce she is to be call “Ar Aghaidh Leat” which translates into fire ahead / go ahead / go on with you. I’m a big fan of Irish names and the last national hunt filly we christened with an Irish name, Nós na Gaoithe, didn’t turn out to be half bad so hopefully this lady can do the same. The plan is to have one run before the Punchestown Festival but we very much have our minds set on the €100k race at one of the best festivals around.
Breeding syndicate up and running
Our breeding syndicate welcomed a beautiful State Of Rest filly to the world on Thursday morning. First time mum Zaakara has taken to her new job like a dream and adores her new daughter. She amalgamates International breeding being by an Irish trained Cox Plate winner out of a half sister to the multiple Group 1 winner Zaaki so she should hopefully make plenty of appeal when she takes her turn in the sales ring. Before that we look forward to getting her owners down to Tinnakill to see her in the next couple of weeks.

More beautiful Bouttemont’s
There are few more exciting feelings than that of foals hitting the ground by new sires and judging by what types Bouttemont is getting already it’s safe to say we’re very excited. Especially in a week when Romantic Warrior (Acclamation) recorded his 10th G1 victory.
🚨 Introducing BOUTTEMONT’S very first foals – and what a pair of absolute belters they are! 🤩

Guess whose back, back again, Ellens back, tell your friends.
At her respective point in her career, figures suggest that Ellen Kelly (Westerner) is the best we’ve ever had. Not only was she visually supreme when winning a Killarney winners-of-one bumper but the clock backed up the effort even baffling the great Willie Mullins and prompting him to moot a potential flat campaign for the dark bay daughter of Westerner.

Unfortunately an old injury reared its head soon after that imperious victory leading to some time on the sidelines receiving some five star rest and recuperation back in Tinnakill. She headed back to Sonny Careys after been given the green light by out veterinary team and after 7-8 weeks under his care she is set to make her way back to Closutton this coming week. The maestro took his tenth Thyestes Chase this week and whilst we won’t make it back for Cheltenham, both Fairyhouse and Punchestown look likely to be on the cards.
Upcoming runners
Adaliz is all set to make her hurdling debut for Henry de Bromhead and Rachel Blackmore in Punchestown on Monday and whilst thats not likely to be her day we’re looking forward to getting her career underway. Havana Goodtime heads to Dundalk on Wednesday. She’s been a very unlucky and frustrating filly so it’ll be good to finally see her hit the track.
Thank you
