The Sunday Syndicates Post – Vol. 4, Issue 4

QUEEN OF ATLANTIS pulled of the hatrick in breathtaking fashion on Friday in Lingfield Park for Callum Hutchison and Peter Chapple-Hattrick (excuse the pun I just had to!). She’s such an admirable, tough, game filly with a huge heart who just loves to win races.

In my pre-race analysis to members I had highlighted my worries about the lack of a pace angle and the potential for a falsely run race. Well, a couple of hundred yards out of the gates my fears were soon realised. The hot favourite, Lavender Hill Mob, broke smartly under Luke Morris who soon dropped the anchor with Queen Of Atlantis settled just off his girth and the eventual second, Alfred, off the pace in last.

Morris dicated things at a very sedate pace off the front end before Callum began stoking the coals approaching the home bend. An erratic move off the bend from Lavender Hill Mob forced Queen Of Atlantis wide but as soon as that was behind her she started running straight and true before the fast finishing Alfred built up a head of steam down her outside. She found another gear when he came to her but he had the momentum and the line just came in time with Queen Of Atlantis prevailing by a nose which sparked some jubilant celebrations on and off course.

We had a request for a defibrillator and oxygen tanks for her next outing such were the dramatic scenes of her last gasp victory. Another owner created a scene in a 200 person conference and I was late back after lunch to my lecture! These are the days and the moments that we live for.

Hey lads, any chance you can get a defibrillator and a couple of bottles of oxygen for her next race?
— Brian Stacey

Ben and Brian (oxygen man) didn’t know each other a couple of weeks ago and now they have an enivable bromance.

It’s been a hugely busy period for Queen Of Atlantis since the first week in December. One could argue that she was unlucky not to be a four time winner after a luckless first start for the Chapple-Hyam team. She won for the first time on December the 22nd off a mark of 71, 16 days after her stable debut. 20 days later she prevailed by a head in Southwell and today’s victory came after a 15 day layoff off a mark of 78. She’s going to be put away now and brought back for an ambitious Spring campaign which will hopefully include an Oaks trial en route to Royal Ascot. She may have cost 40,000gns but money can’t buy the memories she has created for her owners. Get the top hats out men we’re going to Ascot! To be continued…

Peter Fahey Open Morning

We had a big cohort descend to Peter Fahey’s Roefield Stables on Saturday morning to watch Milan Dollar Lady being put through her paces. We had some tea, coffee and cakes in the house with Peter and his wife Ber before heading out onto the gallops.

Milan Dollar Lady is set to make her eagerly anticipated racetrack debut on February the 7th in a 2m mares maiden hurdle.

Dublin Racing Festival Community Drinks

We’re delighted to be hosting community drinks on the Sunday of the Dublin Racing Festival. If you’d like to come along for a free drink and a chance to meet fellow owners make sure you’re in our Community WhatsApp Group so you don’t miss a thing.

Coulstar in on Wednesday

The pressure is on Coulstar to bring the #BargainBreezer23 squad to 100% on Wednesday over 5f in Dundalk. 11 have been entered with two horses that finished in front of her the last day set to reoppose. We have a slight question mark over her ideal trip after her last run but based on her sole 2yo debut stable jockey Ben Coen felt that an out and out 5f would suit the speedy daughter of Coultsy. Given natural improvement off her decent comeback effort in a hot contest we’re hopeful that she can be fighting out the finish. We await declarations on Monday and hopefully we can keep our fine start to 2024 in full swing.

J’mapple Far Above

Ever wanted an excuse to visit France? Have you ever seen the gallops in Chantilly and been mesmerised? Have you ever looked at the lucrative French prize money and just wish that we had the same over here? Well, your wish is our command. Make sure your viewing the oringal post as this is worth watching.

We were very taken with our Far Above ex. Sopran Verne colt strutting his stuff on the Chantilly gallops during the week. “It does exactly what it says on the tin”. He’s bred to be precocious, fast and strong and by the looks of the above video he has all of those traits in spades. He’s up on the bit, striding out well and letting down beautifully when his work is complete. He rates as a very exciting prospect for the 2024 season.

Aussies on the march

The second half of the Australian season is just about to kick into top gear and we have some serious fire power for the Autumn Carnival. The WhatsApp group was hopping this week with an update almost every day. Grand Larceny who won on his second start could still rate as our most exciting prospect. He’s the only colt left in the group and has a proper stallions pedigree to boot being a half brother to Everest winner and Coolmore stallion Yes Yes Yes.

Group 3 Winner Run Harry Run strikes a pose during the week.

Last up winner Cape Byron is nearing another start whilst our early flag bearer Run Harry Run came through an 800m jump-out during the week in preparation for an Autumn campaign which will hopefully include a craic at the Australian Guineas. Our unraced Snitzel gelding Yorkshire is on the trail back to the track after a minor setback and could rate as another very exciting prospect for his owners. The Worldwide takeover continues.

Pic of the week

We all thought you’d like to take a look at this very cute picture of Ellen Kelly chilling out in her stable in Closutton during the week post exercise. The daughter of Westerner has come through her first couple of weeks in Willies in good stead as we build towards a debut.
