Whilst the european flat season is winding down after the running of the 103rd Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe and the Frankie show at QIPCO English Champions Day our owners are settling in for what could be a highly exciting Spring Carnival down under. In last week’s Issue we covered Grand Larceny impressive debut success in Newcastle on October 10th.
Great to have a winner for our Australian colts syndicate as Grand Larceny wins at Newcastle. Grand Larceny is a half-brother to Yes Yes Yes and looks like he has gears, gears, gears ⚙️pic.twitter.com/nbk25KICmZ

Since then we’ve had two further winners courtesy of Run Harry Run and Capitalisation. The aptly named Run Harry Run broke his maiden on October 17th for Mike Moroney of Ballymore Stables whilst the tongue tie did the trick on Capitalisation on his third start, winning in good fashion for the Lindsay Park team.
That’s 3 winners from 3 runners in 10 days for our Australian colts syndicate 💪🏽
All 3 horses broke their maidens in impressive fashion and look bright prospects down under 🇦🇺
Well done to all of our owners🙌🏽

There are two further horses in this syndicate namely Cape Byron for the Maher / Eustace axis who showed a nice bit of ability early doors but a few niggly issues have kept him back and a decision to geld him will hopefully pay dividends in the not so distant future. Last but not least is Yorkshire, a nice Snitzel colt, in the care of John O’Shea. He’s on the sidelines with a minor issue but we look forward to seeing him work his way back into full training.
It’s not over until it’s over.
Last week I mistakenly said that the yearling team was complete and the sales were over. However, we were presented with a strapping colt at the Arqana October yearling sale who we simply could not pass up on.
Far Above out of the Listed winning, Group 3 placed Sopran Verne.
By the aforementioned Far Above, whose first yearling have taken the market by storm this year, out of a listed winning mare this guy has early season teargets written all over him. Budding young French trainer Tim Donworth loved the colt and has taken a good chunk for himself as he thought he looked like one who’d be out very early next year. Top hats at the ready!
Delighted to buy a rocket of a FAR ABOVE colt to go to @TimDonworth94

Family on fire
We added Kara de Thaix to the team at the Goffs Defender sale this year at a cost of €26,000 having thought she’d fetch at least double that. The daughter of Jeu St Eloi was our value purchase of the store sales and a number of top judges told us that we robbed her. Time will tell!
Kara de Thaix strutting her stuff at Breakfast With The Stars
She was hugely popular at our Breakfast With The Stars this year and it’s not hard to see why. Since then her close relation Jeu de Thaix has won a Grade 1 AQPS Bumper and bolted up by 12 lengths hard held on his first start over hurdles during the week. This lady looks precocious whilst having the scope to improve with time and an obstacle. One that will certainly be keeping our 100% bumper record intact when she joins Willie Mullins.
Already a G1 AQPS Bumper winner JEU DE THAIX bolts up in the shape of an exciting prospect on his hurdles bow💪🏽
We have his very close relation KARA DE THAIX heading into training with Willie Mullins. What might she achieve?

Tara looking to bow out on a high
Fast Tara has been a source of great fun for us this year. She’s ran eight times this year winning her first start in Bellewstown and taking in Goodwood, Naas, Killarney, the Galway Festival and Cork running some great races and recording some high pieces of form along the way. She’s been so consistent and so sound all year.
Fast Tara under Ben Coen breaking her maiden on her first start as a 3yo in Bellewstown.
She will have her last start of the season today in Leopardstown in the Listed Knockaire Stakes over 1m on suitable ground for her. A decision is yet to be made whether she will reappear next year but we must extend our thanks to the Cantillon family for granting us access to such a classily bred, high class filly whose provided us with some great days in 2023.
Thank you.
Thanks for reading. If there is anything we can do for you please do get in touch john@syndicates.racing.
