Far Above’s first yearlings went under the hammer during the week at the Goffs UK Doncaster Premier Yearling Sale and safe to say they didn’t disappoint. They averaged over six times his covering fee catching the imagination of owners, trainers, bloodstock agents and breeze-up men alike.
Lot 321: Far Above ex. Teide Lady sold for £40,000
Topping the bill was a fine big strapping colt who is very much built in the mould of his father. Lot 231 was making his second appearance in a sales ring having fetched €30,000 to Tally-Ho Stud at last year’s Goffs November Foal Sales. His purchasers that day, Ihor and Andriy, reoffered the half brother to the Group 3 winning Ayaar and made a nice return on their outlay after Ed Sackville and Hugo Palmer signed the docket at £40,000.
Lot 26: Far Above ex. Light Bay sold for £32,000
The first one by the sire and the only filly in the sale signalled things to come for the exciting FSS. This one was close to my heart as highlighted in last week’s Issue and I was delighted to see her go to such a good home in Manor House Stables. Ed Sackville again signed the docket on behalf of Classic winning trainer Hugo Palmer bringing the hammer down at £32,000. She also caught the attention of his stallion master Micháel Orlandi who was acting on behalf of Dave Loughnane whom had to settle for second place on this occasion. Light Bay was a 2,000gns HIT purchase in 2020. She was subject to two good pedigree updates as both of her half sisters won with Illykato going on to strike at Listed level whilst Absolutelyflawless won her first two starts as a juvenile for the Loughnane / Lowe axis including the prestigious Lily Agnes Conditions Stakes.
Lot 341; Far Above ex. Centime sold for £30,000
Another colt very much in the mould of his sire was lot 341 who went the way of Eddie Linehan of Lackendarra Stables. This lad comes from a particularly fast family that has clicked very well with the Pivotal sire line. Sold by his breeders Tinnakill House Stud we will hopefully see this guy come back under the hammer next Spring at the breeze-up sales. Far Above himself was a £105,000 Guineas breeze-up purchase so we’ll look forward to hopefully seeing this colt scorch up the turf next year.
Favourable forecast for Bouttemont
We’re in for an Indian summer here in Ireland and it couldn’t have come at any better time for the prospects of our new acquisition Bouttemont. He was purchased on the pretense that fast ground was his optimum conditions, something he has only raced on twice in his life yielding two stakes victories.
📣New Stallion for 2024
✨𝐁𝐎𝐔𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐓 ✨
“He is a particularly good looking horse that is strikingly similar to Acclamation and has the same wonderful temperament as him, so the case for him is a compelling one.”

We had a bit of fun putting together the annoucment video. Make sure and take a look if you haven’t already seen it above (original post). Fran Berry also likes his chances of Group 1 glory on Sunday stating his in Sporting Life ICW Preview:
>
“Bouttemont is a really interesting contender from France. He comes into it a little under the radar and you could see him in contention.”
His trainer, Yann Barberot, is in rude health of late adding Group 1 and Group 3 victories to his CV on Sunday courtesy of Zagrey and Beavatier. He took to social media during the week to discuss his excitement about having his first runner in Ireland at the weekend and gave an insight to Bouttemont’s chances on Sunday (original post).

Buzzing for Barrier Trials
Absolutely Buzzing will take on six rivals in Batch 6 of the ITM Barrier Trials in Dundalk on Tuesday due off at 3:40pm. We’re excited to get her started and the barrier trials have been lucky for us in the past with our other Gleneagles filly, Queen Maedbh, using them as a springboard to her successful juvenile campaign.
Newport Bay was another Syndicates.Racing juvenile who did her reputation no harm when going down fighting in Wolverhampton on Saturday evening. The daughter of New Bay has progressed with every start this season and was beaten just 2 lengths and pipped by a nose for 3rd place. She enters nursery company now as we await her handicap mark on Tuesday morning. It won’t be long before she gets the winning bracket beside her name.
Thank you.
