Scarcely does a horse come along who captures the imagination as much as our new acquisition Bouttemont. Ok you might search him on Racing Post and think “what’s all the fuss about?”. Well let me tell you. Firstly, this week’s cover illustrates how much of a specimen he really is. A carbon copy of his father Accalamtion who has been the preeminent source of sire sons in Europe for the past decade or more. He stands over a lot of ground, is perfectly correct, has good action and a temperment to die for.

Secondly, as Kevin Blake so eloquently described we have not seen the best from this horse yet. Typically sons of Acclamation improve with age which is exactly what Bouttemont looks to be doing but when you dig under the surface a little further there’s an even bigger glaringly obvious sign as to how much potential this horse may still retain. He’s only raced on good to firm ground twice winning a Group 3 at Deauville and a Listed race at Chantilly. His bombproof temperament mislead his connections into thinking he wasn’t a bonafide 5f sprinter. However, when he was given the opportunity to run on good to firm ground over 5f earlier this year in the Listed Prix Hampton he clocked speeds of upto 72km/h and ran a blisteringly quick time of 56.18secs, just a few ticks off the course record.
I've been working with @jackcantillon for the last few years to find the right stallion prospect to partner up on and we have finally found him. A superb physical, by an exceptional sire-of-sires and with two Group 1 runs left in his racing career. Here's why we are so excited: pic.twitter.com/lbH7ysE54C

On that fabled day he clocked a RPR of 116 , higher than any other son of Acclamation to go to stud. Two of the last three sons of Acclamation to go to stud, Mehmas and Acclaim, have both sired Group 1 winners in their first crops. That figure would have been good enough to win or place in each one of the last five editions of the Group 1 Flying Five and the Group 1 Prix de l’Abbaye which are Bouttemont’s next two targets in the white black and red of Syndicates.Racing. Furthermore, that figure of 116 is higher than Showcasing(115), Havana Grey(115), Dark Angel(114), Mehmas(114) & Kodiac(111) Pretty eye catching eh?

The response has been phenomenal and I don’t suspect that the shares will last very long given how full our inboxes have been. Our Simpsons video (view original post to view above) really captured the imagination and took the launch to a worldwide audience. Shares are based off a 2.5% stake in the rest of his racing career as well as a lifetime breeding right with bonus nominations in years one, two, three and four. Guess who’s back?
Lady Masquerade returns on Monday and this time reverts to the flat taking on 10 rivals including the first foal out of the smart Augusta Kate in the 2m Fillies Bumper in Ballinrobe. Lady Masquerade made a very encouraging start to her career when 3rd to Shajak in a Maiden Hurdle one month ago. Gavin Cromwell has been happy with her since her run and she worked nicely during the week. The last time we went to Ballinrobe we came away with the trophy after Nós na Gaoithe won her maiden hurdle by 13 lengths in August of last year. We’re expecting a big crowd in Mayo on Monday.
Flat fillies at the ready
Absolutely Buzzing is nearing a debut for Joseph O’Brien and is likely to take in next week’s barrier trails en route to a racecourse debut. The daughter of Gleneagles is a big rangy filly who has displayed some nice glimpses of talent thus far. We’re excited to see what she can do for the master of Carriganóg.
Queen Of Atlantis’s form took another strong boost on Saturday as her Newbury conqueror, Woodhay Wonder, won the £100,000 Tattersalls Sommerville Auction Stakes in Newmarket. She is in good form at home with James Ferguson and will look to have her second start in Southwell on September 6th.
Newport Bay was only beaten 2L’s on her last start for Kevin Phillipart de Foy and she will head to Wolverhampton on Saturday for a Fillies Restricted Novice over 5f. She will have to come through her final piece of work on Tuesday before a decision is made on her participation.
Orderofthephoenix is going well with Ado McGuinness. She has posted some nice pieces of work to date and is not far off making her debut. She is another member of our #BargainBreezer 2023 squad and our first horse with Ado so we’re looking forward to getting her started.
Our Zoustar filly looks to be coming through her paces nicely and is one that will look to get her career underway next month. She worked well in company during the week and Amy’s horses remain in good form with her 2yo, Geologist, just being pipped in the big Sommerville sales race on Saturday.
Gleneagles ex. Spinning Queen before she departed for the Hill.
Our Gleneagles filly out of Group 1 winner Spinning Queen departed for Joseph O’Brien’s during the week. She really caught the imagination at the Breakfast With The Stars and there was a big rush on shares. It’s not hard to see why. Stevie Byrne and his family in Knockgraffon Stables do a wonderful job and he’s really turned this filly inside out. She absolutely thrived under his tutelage and he brought her on really nicely. It’s time to see what we’ve got now but she couldn’t be going to a better place to find that out!
Silly sales season begins
The juggernaut that is the yearling sales has rolled back around for the 2023 season. Jack was in Arqana last week more on a social trip than a buying one by the sounds of things as our pockets don’t yet go that deep. We’re Doncaster bound this week and are looking forward to seeing how the progeny of Far Above are received.
Lot 26: Far Above ex. Light Bay is the first yearling by the sire to be offered.
The first Far Above through the ring is close to my heart as I own her and she’s the first horse that I’ve ever bred. She’s a very well made, loose moving filly who should hopefully be a good advertisement for the sire. She goes through as lot 26 and is consigned by Baroda Stud. She is one of 6 exciting prospects to be offered for sale by Far Above and the only filly by the sire in the sale.
Lot 341: Far Above ex. Centime colt
Tinnakill offer a fine big strapping Far Above colt with an excellent page. He’s another excellent advertisement for the sire. He stands over a lot of ground, is very well made, has a good attractive head and a powerful walk. His dam is a half sister to Group 1 sprinter Brando who is by Pivotal meaning this colt is a very close relation as Far Above’s grandsire is Pivotal.
Thank you.
Thanks for reading. Apologies for the lapse in SSP’s over the last couple of weeks as I was on holidays. I hope you enjoyed this weeks bumper issue and keep an eye on socials during the weeks as we enter a very busy period for everything Syndicates.Racing. Get in touch john@syndicates.racing.
