We had an insanely busy week this week adding three quality fillies to the Syndicates.Racing team and one new trainer. At the start of the week we added Cabaret Queen’s half sister, Cabaret Princess, who is only a Princess in name as she is a proper Queen. We obviously had her highlighted pre sale but when the pictures and videos came through we knew that we’d have to take her home with us.
She is a quality individual with an athletic walk and loads of size and scope. She has an attractive head with a lovely big ear and a kind eye. She’s probably the perfect mix between Cabaret Queen and Cabaret King. She is strong and robust but has super movement and a lovely attitude. Our priority list shareholders snapped up 75% in a couple of hours upon release and we don’t expect the remainder to last very long either.
King Willie takes charge of this regally bred filly and we can’t wait to see what he can unearth in her and if she can take us on half an exciting journey as her half sister did.
Breeze-ups
After phenomenal demand for our Advertise filly we attended the Goresbridge breeze-up sale during the week in an attempt to find another Queen Maedbh. We came away with two crackers but very exciting upcoming sires who we rate very highly.
The first was this strong, attractive daughter of the ever exciting FSS Phoenix Of Spain. The sire has had three winners to date, two which won their second starts by 6 lengths or more. Spanish Flame ran an eye-catching fourth for Ger Lyons in a hot looking 7f Leopardstown Maiden and looks a sure fire winner on his next start.
This filly came highly recommended by her consignor, Justin Timmons, who said he had been disappointed by her breeze as on her homework she looked as if she could’ve been one of the best he’s ever had through his hands. She wasn’t missed either as the Ado McGuinness / Stephen Thorne / Shamrock Thoroughbreds access were keen to secure her as were we so we formed a new alliance. Unfortunately Jack lost the coin toss so she will run in the Shamrock colours but that won’t matter to us when we’re all in the winners enclosure together.
She is a half sister to the 87 rated, Hong Kong export War horse and the exciting maiden Star Galaxy who was third in the Curragh on Sunday. She has Group race entries ahead of her and looks to further bolster and already exciting pedigree.
Last but certianly not least was the best value of our week and the true definition of a “BargainBreezer”. A €20,000 Coultsy filly with blacktype in the first dam. The mare is two from two and has produced the highly rated, talaneted Juvenile Coulthard who is now plying his trade in California. Coulthard got blacktype on only his second racecourse start when a highly promising 3rd in the 6f Round Tower Stakes at the Curragh. He was a 98 rated 2yo before a switch to the US saw him break his maiden on his first start at Santa Anita.
Coultsy is a massively exciting, great value sire that both Jack and I have bred nice mares to in the last couple of seasons. He has massive crops coming through in the next couple of seasons and he’s a sire that holds huge stock for us. From a poor quality first book of mares he marked himself out as a sire with serious potential after upgrading his mares, a very important trait in a stallion.
Dark Angel looks like he’s going to have a massive impact as a broodmare sire already counting Group 1 winning sprinter and sire sensation Havana Grey as a progeny of one of his daughters. Molecomb Stakes winner Rumbleinthejungle is also out of a Dark Angel mare so he appears to pass on speed and precocity in spades whilst this is also obviously already a stakes producing cross courtesy of Coulthard.
We were keen to find value and to do that you have to work angles. It’s more a people’s business than a horse business and having built up relationships with consignors is very important. Roger O’Callaghan of the infamous Tally-Ho Stud assured me that this lady was going to be savage value and was not to be missed. She didn’t clock in her breeze after she hung across the track which was caused by a hematoma going from her chest to to underneath her belly. It also caused her to be stood in a box for a full week before she breezed so she was already at a massive disadvantage before she even set foot on the Fairyhouse turf.
Great to have a good cohort of https://t.co/pw1a8N92Or owners @tatts_ireland for the Gorsebridge breeze-up sale. We’ve already added a lovely Phoneix Of Spain filly can we add another? pic.twitter.com/n6vFJ7QzOk

She joins our most successful trainer, the in-form Johnny Murtagh. Johnny has had at least one winner for us every year and we were keen to get him a 2yo this year. Upon hearing that he was getting her he said “get that one named quick, she looks good and early and we’ll have a good bit of fun with her.” The Naming Word Cup is due to start imminently so you’d want to grab your share ASAP. She was launched early today and 50% was nabbed straight off the bat.
If you’d like to get involved with any if the fillies above please get in touch with aimee@syndicates.racing.
Fast Tara acquits herself well
Tara traveled to the UK during the week to take her chance in the Listed Height Of Fashion Stakes in Goodwood. She travelled ominously into the race only to fade out of contention inside the last furlong on unsuitably quick ground. The talented daughter of Fast Company is likely to be a different filly with a gig in the ground back to 1m.
4-y-o’s coming to hand
Milan Dollar Lady posted a nice piece of work under Sean Flanagan at the Curragh last week. The half sister to Road To Respect has done nothing but progress since she’s joined Peter Fahey. Peter is confident she can compete and compete well in bumpers before progressing onto hurdles and fences throughout her career.
Another exciting 4-y-o, Ellen Kelly, left Sonny Carey’s during the week to go to Willie Mullins. She’s by the same sire of our debut bumper winner, West End Victory and represents the potent cross of Willie Mullins / Syndicate.Racing who maintain a 100% strike record in bumpers first time out. We’re confident that Ellen will be capable of upholding this illustrious record.
Thank you.
Thank you for reading. We hope you enjoyed following all of the action this week and look forward to getting you involved in our exciting new additions. If there’s anything we can do get in touch with john@syndicates.racing.
