To say we’re excited is an understatement! We have a small army of owners heading over to Cheltenham this week to watch Princess Grangee take her place in the Grade 2 Mares Novice Hurdle at 4:50pm on Thursday. 45 out of her 54 owners are making the journey including two all the way from Australia! How about that for commitment?
Tom Segal, Paul Kealy, Tony Calvin, Tom Parks and just about any other tipster worth their salt have put her up in their articles. Dinoblue heads the market. She’s “only” won a maiden hurdle in Clonmel on bottomless ground and although the time was good the form has not worked out well. Grangee syndicate members are more than aware of my love hate relationship with Brandy Love. We’ve already taken her scalp at last years DRF and Bryan Cooper was confident he had her covered before departing two out the last day. She’s erratic and to me she has a good bit to prove. Yes, I know going left handed will suit but has she really had to properly settle into a battle and come out on top? The occasion may just get to her on the day.
I’ve good time for Party Central but again Grangee knows exactly how to beat her. I admire the way she has been campaigned and she was absolutely thrown in the last day, it was a superb bit of placing. She has a good bit of improvement to find on my ratings as she was all out to win a listed hurdle after a disappointing on her second start over obstacles. She’s talented but I think she’ll just find one or two too good here.
Colm Murphy’s horses appear to be in good nick further advertised by Macs Charm winning in Naas today. On Impervious’s best form she was beaten five lengths by Mighty Potter in the Grade 1 Royal Bond with Farout another two and a half lengths ahead of her that day. Grangee was only beaten half a length by Farout and four lengths by Mighty Potter in the Grade 1 at Christmas, form I believe will be boosted come the first race on day 1 of this years Festival.
Connections are adamant Love Envoi needs a trip and softer ground, Choice Of Words has been disappointing this year and Statuaire was a lucky Grade 1 winner.
Yes, of course it’s easy to be biased when you’re on my side of the fence but when you break it down Grangee really has very good credentials to take us all to dreamland on Thursday evening. Likely to get her ground, she’s in good from at home, she’s been to Cheltenham and ran well already and she’s got proven Graded form in the book.
Tom Segal, Paul Kealy, Tony Calvin, Tom Parks and John Bourke are all firmly in the Grangee camp.

Far Above’s Impress
Breeders have been over the moon with the quality, strength and good looks of the Far Above foals. I can speak from personal experience on this one as my maiden mare had a lovely filly of her own. He was supported by some of the best breeders and he’s certainly not letting anyone down. He looks set to cover over 100 mares again this year which would be great going.
If you would like to use Far Above for your mare please do get in touch.
Fifty Flying high
For any young stallion to have full sisters to Group 1 winners, sisters to the dams of dual Grand National winners and Grade 2 winners amongst their books is the aim of any stallion master. Well with Fifty Stars these are his first mares scanned in foal. He’s been extremely well received and is set to cover an enviable book of top class National Hunt and flat mare.
Thank you.
As always thank you very much for reading. We hope that you will all be glued to Cheltenham this week and even though we’ve 54 hopeful owners we’ve a family of over 1,000 owners under the Syndicate.Racing banner who make what we do possible. People spend millions trying to get a runner good enough to compete at Cheltenham, we go there with a genuine live chance with our bonny little mare who only cost €25,000.
