If you’re a Kildare man or woman weekends don’t come much better than the weekend we just had. On Saturday morning we welcomed close to 50 owners to Willie McCreery’s Rathbride Stables on the heart of the Curragh of Kildare. We were joined by Kildare Manager/Royalty, Glen Ryan, who provided a right bit of craic for us all before leading the Kildare team to a three point victory over Dublin today in Newbridge.
Our first naming World Cup was completed and we were delighted to announce that our Free Eagle filly has now officially been christened Lily Maguire. Keep an eye on local newspapers (The Leinster Leader) as local photographer Jimmy Fulham was on hand to capture the events of the day.
That was our first stable tour of the year and it really got the juices flowing for the upcoming flat season which starts in Ireland on March 26th. We may not have to wait too long for our first runner of the season as Willie has tentatively pencilled in an April start for Lily Maguire.
If you enjoyed Saturdays stable tour and would like the opportunities for more days out to some of the top training establishments in the World then look no further than Syndicates.Racing. We still have shares remaining in fillies with Johnny Murtagh, Jessica Harrington, Dave Loughnane and Jack Davison. You can get involved in all four by signing up for the All-In Syndicates Special which represents great value and promises more mighty craic like Saturday.
Grangee becoming the “shrewdie” horse
Willie Mullins hosted his impressive Cheltenham press morning this week with an enviable amount of talent on show. Grangee garnered further attention as somewhat of a sleeper in the Mares Novice Hurdle market at 10/1 and 12/1 with Bryan Cooper’s comments coming to the fore and Willie highlighting the fact he was confident he had the field covered in the Grade 3 Sulerina Hurdle before her tumble two out. Its not ideal heading to The Festival having fallen on her last start but we’re relishing the opportunity and there will be an army of Syndicates.Racing owners on hand to hopefully cheer her up the Hill.
Le Havre filly settling in well
A royally bred filly in training with racing royalty represents a hugely exciting prospect for all of us. We have been wanting to send Jessica Harrington a horse for the last number of years but we wanted to ensure we got it just right and I think we may have done just that.
Jessica is a World renowned trainer and has a real knack of developing families and pedigrees. Our filly is out of the Verglas mare Sandsnow who has already produced two stakes horses by Le Havre led by the Listed winner SOTTEVILLE who was also Group 2 and Group 3 placed.
Interestingly Racing Post Ratings have her three time winning older sister Crisolles rated 7lbs better even though she never won a blacktype event. However, she acquitted herself well placing at G3 and G3 level before bringing the monstrous sum of €720k from China Horse Club in 2014. She has since gone on to produce a winner so its an excellent, ever expanding, talented family.
The nick further bolstered itself as Sottevast (Le Havre) also struck on just her thirs start last year. Its rare such a well bred filly comes up for syndication so we are delighted to have her and can’t wait to see what Jessie can do with her.
