It was one of those days for us yesterday as Grangee came down at the second last when mounting her challenge in the Grade 3 Solerina Hurdle at Fairyhouse whilst the well backed Nós na Gaoithe ran way too keen to finish off her race and was subsequently not knocked around when her chance had vanquished. The main news of course is that Grangee is A-OK this morning and will be monitored closely over the next couple of days. Cheltenham is still very much the plan and we definitely wouldn’t swap our mare for any other in the division even after yesterdays shake-up in the Mares Novice market.
Owners at the debrief with Bryan Copper pre-race
We know that Nós has a lot of ability and yesterday wasn’t her true showing. She’ll have plenty of options at Fairyhouse, Puncherstown and maybe even Aintree this spring but she is firmly one that we expect to improve with age, experience and a step-up in trip. Whatever she achieves now is a bonus.

Western Victory further bolsters the page
Western Victory’s achievements have been well documented on these pages and she further bolstered the page by finishing 3rd in the Grade 2 Mares Hurdle at Doncaster yesterday. It was an excellent performance considering she went off like a bat out of hell in a similar event 7 days previous finishing a very tired horse. Her full sister is thriving with Sonny and we’re very much looking forward to getting her into Closutton. It’s quite remarkable that the last two fillies we’ve sent to Willie (Grangee & Nós na Gaoithe) have soley run in blacktype races since they made their respective debuts in bumpers and over hurdles. She has a lot to live up to but we have high hopes for her.
Holidays over for Golden Mayflower
We were delighted to hear that one of our stable stars has departed Tinnakill to head back over to Amy Murphy in Newmarket. She did extremely well for her break, really filling out and getting good and strong. We’ll campaign her ambitiously this year with her early season target being Royal Ascot. She also has the very lucrative GBB tag meaning she can win another £20k Bonus for her owners. She is a filly we think a lot of and Amy has done a fantastic job training her. Being by Golden Horn out of a stakes winning Shamardal mare she should be seen to better effect this year.
Golden Mayflower striding clear on her racecourse debut
Interestingly her dam won her maiden as a 2yo on the 16th of October, Golden Mayflower won hers on the 28th of October. Pelerin then made her 3yo debut in the G3 Nell Gwen Stakes in April before bolting up in a handicap on her next start. Thereafter she solely competed in blacktype races where she was listed placed over 1m and 1m2f whilst also striking at the same level over 7f and 1m. She was 2nd in the G2 Sceptre Stakes and 2nd in an Italian G3 both as a 4yo. It’s a beautiful pedigree and she’s a beautiful filly so we’re very lucky to have her.
Stable Tour
If you haven’t had a chance to check out last weeks Stable Tour you can do so here. We’re very excited for the upcoming season with our Fast Company filly heading back into Johnny Murtagh’s this week after a spin up the Curragh last week. Our Le Havre filly continues to impress Sonny Carey and she forms part of an exciting flat squad for Jessica Harrington this year. Our Kodi Bear filly is looking for the next spot on the boat over to Dave Loughnane’s and she’ll be almost ready to run off the boat thats how early we expect her to be. Dave’s stable star, Go Bears Go, has the Commonwealth Cup as his early season target after a hugely successful freshman career. Our Muhaarar filly met with a minor setback but it has come at a great time as she’s really starting to grow and fill out. She weighs in at 430kg already and remains one that we are quite excited about. Kildare drew with Kerry in Round 1 of the Allianz League today but we’re hoping that our Free Eagle filly will be going to the top of the division next year for Willie McCreery.
Our four flat fillies in the January Sale Special
Tomorrow is your final chance to get involved in our January Sale Special where you can be involved in four exciting flat fillies for the discounted price of €1,200.
Foal Watch
Tinnakill welcomed a cracking New Bay colt out the the Group producing dam Hala Hala. New Bay is a hugely exciting sire, one very familiar to Syndicates.Racing owners through the exploits of New Emerald Bay and the returning Mise Le Meas. Hala Hala is an exciting young producer for the Stud being the dam of the G3P Hala Hala Hala. Her Bated Breath foal made €40k last year. This colt weighed in at a huge 59kg which is an excellent foal weight.
