Exciting news dropped this week as both West End Victory (cover) and Cabaret King are bound for Willie Mullins’s historic Closutton base. The strange weather patterns this year meant that the summer horses stayed in the stable for longer as the ground remained good for most of the autumn.
Cabaret King, a half brother to our star mare Cabaret Queen looks to continue the legacy with Willie Mullins
West End Victory comes from a deep blacktype family herself being a full sister to the tough, hardy and consistent Western Victory whom are in turn half sisters to the talented Tell Us More. She has come through her pre-training with flying colours and is definitely a filly to look forward to this winter. We’d be hoping to look toward a Christmas debut but this is very much a filly who is bred for a trip and to progress with age.
Cabaret King needs no introduction. He has a very lofty reputation to follow being a half brother to our superstar mare Cabaret Queen. If he can manage to achieve half of what she did for us then we’re set for a lot of fun. He’s a big, strong, imposing individual who is bred to be a chaser and we’ll have our sights firmly set on the Grand National 2027!
Next gen
In this game you always have to be thinking of the next horse. As our two 4-y-o’s entered Willie’s this week our 3-y-o crop are all progressing really nicely. They all appear very straightforward, have a good attitude towards their work and are all displaying key early signs that we like to look for. We restocked heavy this year at the store sales with fillies by Milan, Walk In The Park, Westerner and Masked Marvel.
Similarly our 2-y-o’s are all broken, riding and preparing to enter the stables of Joseph O’Brien, Amy Murphy and Kevin Philpart de Foy. Our New Bay filly really took us by surprise this week as we received our first video update from Eddie Linehan of Lackendarra Stables. It was hard to believe how much she had progressed from the sales until now and we firmly have our eyes set on the Goffs Million with her. (View original post for video below)
Nós out for a break
Nós na Gaoithe has been let off for a break after a frantic last start that did not go to plan in Cork. Her first start over 3m resulted in a race with absolutely no tempo and she got too lit up and never got home. She’s still a dual winner and unlucky not to have been a three time winner but she certainly is not done winning yet! She’s been on the go a very long time now so she was well overdue a break. We’ll look to get her back into Willies in January with a view on the Fairyhouse and Punchestown Spring Festivals.
Aus Colt Syndicate ramping up
We got very excited last weekend as Cape Byron was set to become our first Australian runner in the $500k Inglis Banner Race. He posted a series of impressive workouts and has posted some eye catching data on his homework. Unfortunately he came up with sore shins the day before the race and had to be scratched but it was an appetiser of things to come for this very exciting syndicate.
Thank you.
