The return of mares was published during the week and it showed that Far Above was yet again one of the most popular sires in the country covering 117 mares in his second season bringing his two year total to 260 mares. Such were the prowess and quality of his foals breeders came flooding back in their droves to breed to the superstar sprinter.
15 Far Above foals line out in the Goffs November breeding stock sales whilst 6 go under the hammer across the water at Tattersalls. Reports from breeders have been fantastic. He seems to be breeding strength, quality and temperament into all of his progeny which is a great sign for a young stallion.
Having covered two big books with the support of some of the best breeders in the country and the likelihood of them going to top homes he’ll have every chance of challenging for Champion FSS in two years time.
Breaking process
All yearlings are now under tack and are being ridden away. The breaking process compromises of a couple of weeks lunging, followed by driving under tack then they are backed and ridden off. Eddie Linehan of Lackendarra Stables has our New Bay filly who goes to Kevin Phillpart de Foy. Like most New Bay’s she was a little bit hot a buzzy to start with but now she’s settled down really well and loves her routine. Eddie has built a state of the art facility down in Cork and has handled some high class stock.
Stephen Byrne of Knockgraffon has our Gleneagles filly going to Joseph O’Brien. She’s been a dream to deal with, very easy to break and back, loves her grub and sleeps well. Amy Murphy has the Zoustar filly and whilst she may have been away on purchasing duties in Arqana but that didn’t stop the team getting our new Zoustar filly broken and backed. She’s very straightforward, has a great mind and as you can see from the video below she’s quite an attractive, imposing filly.
Tough as teak Tinnakill bred Tranquil Lady lands French Group 3
Repose has to be one of the most exciting young broodmares on the planet, so exciting that I suppose that’s why Juddmonte purchased her early this year. She promises to be one of the most sought after fillies when she goes under the hammer in Tattersalls at the end of November being a dual stakes winning half sister to multiple Group 1 winner State Of Rest.
She was guided to success by one of the most talented young jockeys we’ve ever seen, Dylan Browne McMonagle. Her success marled a remarkable day for the O’Brien family as earlier on the card Joseph’s brother Donnacha won the Group 1 Criterium International whilst their father looks to have another special horse on his hands as Auguste Rodin was mightily impressive when winning the Group 1 Vertem Futurity.
Even though Repose is no longer a resident of Tinnakill they have a Sea The Stars half sister to State Of Rest and Tranquil Lady due to go under the hammer as a yearling next year.
Thoroughbred Tales takeover
Syndicates.Racing is due to take over the Thoroughbred Tales Twitter account for the Goffs November foal and breeding stock sales. We want to make it as engaging and educational as possible so we’d love some suggestions on content you’d like us to produce. We’ll take a look at what it’s like to run a foal consignment, what to look for when pin-hooking a foal and angles/pedigrees when buying mares. Make sure and give the page a follow so you don’t miss out.
Thank you
As always thank you for reading. If there is anything that we can do for you get in touch john@syndicates.racing.
