When the going got tough we got going. After trying hard over the past couple of weeks to secure another breeze-up horse it took until the twilight zone of the Tattersalls Guineas Breeze-up sale for us to strike but as the saying goes “good things come to those who wait”.
We’re very excited to announce that our new Gleneagles filly will join Royal Ascot winning trainer Gavin Cromwell. Gavin is one of the best dual purpose trainers in the country. He had a phenomenal year on the flat last year saddling Quick Suzy to Queen Mary glory whilst Sunset Shiraz was one of the highest rated 2yo fillies in Ireland last year having hit the frame in Listed, Group 3, Group 2 and Group 1 company before going on to land her maiden by a taking six lengths. She has an Irish Oaks entry this year and is a massively exciting prospect for an upwardly mobile stable.
Gleneagles is a sire who has been on our radar for quite sometime due to his superb record with fillies. 60% of his top 20 progeny are fillies headed by his Group 1 & Ribbelsdale winning daughter Loving Dream. His 3yo fillies weren’t the only ones to excel on the track last year with smart juvenile fillies Velocidad, Sesai and Jumbly all look to continue the sires purple patch in 2022.
The filly in question is a lovely fluid mover, with good strength and depth. She breezed well clocking the 49th quickest time overall which was excellent given she is a filly that we believe will be seen to best effect over 7f-1m. She’s got a lovely attractive head, good galloping action and she has a great backpage. One of the finest judges of a horse, Flash Conroy, bought her younger brother for €80k last year so it looks to be a family going places. Our new Australian colts syndicate
Our Zoustar colt half brother to Everest winner Yes Yes Yes
When we bred State of Rest to win Australia’s best race, we set ourselves a goal at the start of the year to expand our horizons to Australia to give our European owners a chance to partake in some of the best racing in the world. We couldn’t be more excited to announce our Australian colts syndicate in partnership with Robert Roulston, Mark Player and the PR Funds. This is the first ever investment by an Irish syndicate into a leading Australian colt syndicate and there is no other way to access the Australian market so affordably from a European syndicator.
We’ve taken a 2.5% share in five elite yearling colts by Snitzel, Written Tycoon, Zoustar and Capitalist. These blue blood horses, which include a Zoustar half-brother to Everest winner Yes Yes Yes, were carefully selected by Mark and Rob as potential international stallions in the world’s most lucrative stallion market, Australia.
We have just 10 shares available in this boutique syndicate which will understandably go rapidly. Full details are available here.
Athasi mission for Mise
Mise le Meas will line up in the Group 3 Athasi Stakes at HQ tomorrow. She is looking to build on a highly promising seasonal reappearance at Gowran Park where she was just denied. She improved massively from her first to second start last year so all going well the same will happen this year and she can add some more blacktype to her page. This will likely be her last start before Royal Ascot where she could line up in the Sandringham, Jersey or even the Coronation (Jack Cantillon losing the run of himself this morning)!
May start for Cucumbear
May 3rd, 2021: “Made all, shaken up and went clear from 2f out, kept on well final furlong, readily.” That was the Racing Post comment when Cucumbear’s full sister, Sienna Bonnie, bolted up by eight and a half lengths on just her second start. Can lightening strike twice? All the signs suggest yes could be the answer.
12 months and 7 days on from that taking performance our Kodi Bear filly is on course to make her racecourse debut at Chepstow on May 10th. She has been away for a racecourse gallop and has shown Dave Loughnane enough ability to say she’ll win a race. Precocity is the name of the game and if she is to oblige early in the season she could join our burgeoning Royal Ascot squad. Don’t say we didn’t warn you click here to get involved.
No Polly for Pretty Mayflower
After a massive amount of deliberation and a strenuous 15mins before declaration we decided against declaring Golden Mayflower for todays Listed Pretty Polly Stakes in Newmarket. With watering ceasing on Friday and only a 40% chance of 2mm of rain on Sunday morning the ground was going to come up too quick for our star 3yo filly. We’re working back from the Royal meeting with her also with the Sandringham and Ribblesdale on her agenda at the minute.
Thank you.
Thank you for reading. We hope you are enjoying the Sunday supplements. We would love to have you on board so please drop me an email if there is anything that we can do for you john@syndicates.racing.
