At the Galway Festival this year, our filly Some Pretender delivered an unforgettable performance, scoring a debut win that will live long in the memory. It marked our first win at Galway Festival for our syndicate, and fittingly, she did so on a stage made special by our own Grangee who also won at Galway in debut (albeit not the festival).
A Filly Born to Follow
Some Pretender’s victory has very much echoed that Grangee debut: the same stallion, similar sparkle, and now the same huge potential status. Trained by Willie Mullins and ridden by Patrick Mullins, Some Pretender justified favouritism in the Salthill Hotel Irish EBF Mares INH Flat Race on her first start. She tracked well early, made her move approaching the straight, and held off Midnight Musical by three-quarters of a length, with Brave Lady another couple of lengths back in third.
A Word from Jack Cantillon
“It’s a special way to debut and win at Galway for our owners and it’s great to reward their patience and belief. She’s a filly to look forward to and the next stop is the Mucklemeg at Gowran Park,” said Jack Cantillon.
