Who is she?
Meet our Australia filly with Henry De Bromhead. She’s got a deep Aga Khan pedigree and a massive walk. Her stable name is Sheila.
Why her?
It’s very rare when you review over 20,000 catalogue pages a year that a pedigree leaps off the page at you. That’s what happened when we saw the pedigree of this filly. Why? It’s a family we know intimately and we know exactly how to get the best out of it.
Our family farm, Tinnakill House, owns her granddam Diamond Tango – she is one of the best mares we’ve ever owned. A Sea The Stars filly out of Diamond Tango made £500,000 and a Australia filly made €260,000 (quite the amount when this filly by the same sire cost just €20,000). We know the secret sauce for this family is two things – nurturing and a stamina test. Our plan is to give her exactly that.
We bought her at Ireland’s best jumps sales – the Goffs Arkle. That’s a little bit counter intuitive given she has such a lovely flat pedigree but we saw an angle. We know this family loves distance and are very athletic – it’s really exciting to have a part of the family try jumping – her relations simply have made too much money to ever try it before. She was sold by the man, Peter Moloney, that found Honeysuckle and she came highly recommended. She walks her box but shows no ill effect – striding out to her chin on inspection.
Henry De Bromhead, the trainer of the perhaps greatest jumps mare ever, needs no introduction but why him for her? It’s because he’s so good at both jobs this filly could excel at – flat and national hunt. That combined with him being a gentleman and such fun to have a horse with – this journey ahead is hugely exciting.
What is the dream plan?
Tactically when mapping our our plan we’ve so many options and that’s what is really exciting. What most excites us about this filly is she really could be anything – her pedigree could see her thrive on the flat and her stamina could see her excel over an obstacle. We have invested in an initial pre-training education with Ed Ryan at Weir View Stud. Ed is a recent graduate of the Godolphin Flying Start, the industry’s leading management program. Ed will nurture her for a number of months and he’s incentivized to do a great job, she’s the first horse we’ve sent him. After she’s broken in, we will give her a holiday at Tinnkaill House followed by the express train to Henry. We think she can win a four year old mares bumper, if she does she’ll get a €7,500 bonus as she’s qualified for the ITBA Mares Scheme. After that, you’d love if she progresses through the ranks just as so many talented mares have done with Henry – Honeysuckle, Magic Daze, Tellmesomethingirl etc.
We think this filly is one of the most unique horses we’ve ever bought and we’d just love for you to hop on board with us.
