Frequently asked questions

What inspired you to start Syndicates.Racing?

Jack Cantillon started Syndicates.Racing after purchasing a £6,000 gelding by Galileo named Guard of Honour. Although Guard of Honour was not our fastest racehorse, the overwhelming reaction from the public inspired Jack to continue buying and syndicating racehorses. Our first winner, Cabaret Queen, won the Munster National. The movement rapidly expanded to over 35 horses in training, more than 1,000 owners worldwide, and numerous victories at some of the world’s best race meetings.

The process is very simple. You click “buy share” on the horse’s page. You then will be presented with options to pay by credit card or bank transfer, and you can always reach out to our team to arrange a call and discuss our various options (just email hello@syndicates.racing). We love to tailor a package for our owners so they can achieve their racing dreams with us. Our goal is to provide the best possible experience with excellent communication, honesty and value for money.

Owning a horse outright gives you control but comes at a high cost and responsibility. At Syndicates.Racing, you benefit from our expertise, enjoy being part of a community, and experience the thrill of racing at a fraction of the cost. Shared ownership multiplies the joy as you experience it with peers who love horse racing while keeping your expenditure at a fraction of sole ownership.

Our horses are typically sold in increments of 1%, 2.5%, 5%, 10%, and 20%. Each share represents a commensurate percentage of ownership. We offer both equity and lease options, clearly indicated on the horse page. Any unsold shares are absorbed by Syndicates.Racing, and we guarantee the amount payable, ensuring financial security for our owners.

Owning a share covers training fees, veterinary fees, transport, finance fees, farrier services, syndicate management fees and everything else required to see your horse thrive. Our costs are capped, ensuring you never pay more than the agreed amount.

We provide constant communication with our owners – it might get overwhelming at times but we believe that you can never communicate enough about your horse. Updates are given on a weekly, bi-weekly, or even tri-weekly basis, with increased communication on race days. You’ll receive videos directly from trainers and jockeys and be involved in decision-making processes, fully immersing you in the journey.

Yes, you can. We arrange visits on a case-by-case basis and frequently organize group trips to see our horses and visit leading training facilities and behind-the-scenes locations like the Irish National Stud, Goffs, and Tattersalls.

We have a 100% rehoming record. We focus on fillies for their potential and residual value as broodmares, but also ensure colts and geldings are well cared for when we do buy them. We dedicate ourselves to finding suitable second careers for all our racehorses, ensuring their welfare during and after their racing careers.

Prize money is distributed annually. For flat race horses, it is usually distributed in the first quarter of the year following their prize money was won. For National Hunt horses, prize money is distributed when they go spelling, typically in the summer. The sum allocated to unit holders is the net total paid to the Syndicates.Racing by racing authorities, minus race-day expenses related to entry/supplementary fees and trainer, jockey, and groom expenses.

You’ll be added to our dedicated WhatsApp group for each individual horse and our community WhatsApp group for general announcements. You’ll also have access to our bespoke app, the Racing Manager. We also provide continuous personal support and are available to address any queries you may have, ensuring you have the best possible experience.
