This is always a very exciting time of the year with 2-y-o’s starting to show glimpses of promise, the big Spring Festivals are just around the corner and the flat season is a little over two months away.
Our New Bay filly has really caught the attention of Eddie Linehan who broke and pre-trained her. She is destined for Newmarket this Monday where she will join the ever exciting Kevin Phillipart de Foy.
She has an entry in the €1.2m Goffs Million in September which will be a big target for the year but closer to home we think she could be one to be out running early with a view to a possible date at Royal Ascot.
Lily kicks off 2023
Lily Maguire came agonisingly close to kicking off 2023 with a winner from our first runner! The Willie McCreery filly is trained for the Kildare GAA Supporters Club in association with Syndicates.Racing.
She made a promising start to her career at the beginning of December with a green run to finish 6th. She made a marked improvement on that run when last off the bridle on Friday evening in Dundalk to go down fighting by just a neck. Hopefully a sign of things to come for the season ahead.
Updates Upgrade
We were delighted to partner up with Bermingham Cameras during the week to upgrade our entire updates system and bring our owners closer to the action than ever before. We strive each year to get better and keeping owners updated is at the forefront of our minds. We look forward to getting stuck in to our new kit to make 2023 a year to remember.
West is best
West End Victory has had her fair share of holdups but a very positive update from Closutton sent her owners into frenzied excitement during the week. She had her first piece of work which was reported to have gone very well as she builds up for a racetrack debut in March / April. She has illustrious footsteps to follow and a 100% strike record to uphold for Willie Mullins & Syndicates.Racing in bumpers so hopes are high.
The Big Read
One of the “OGs” kicks off our owner interviews for 2023. Melissa encapsulates exactly what we are trying to do – grow the sport of horse racing and illustrate just how great a sport it is. Melissa has been involved with some of the Syndicates.Racing greats which you will read below.
“If you work with broodmares for ore than 10hrs a week” pay attention
The SSP’s biggest supporter, Meta Osborne (Jacks mother), is currently studying a MSc in International Animal Welfare, Ethics and Law at Edinburgh University and she needs our help. Her dissertation is based on the quality of life of a broodmare on a stud farm. Participation is voluntary but we may wrangle Meta into becoming a regular SSP contributor if we can give her a hand with her dissertation. If you work with broodmares or know someone that does click here to partake in the survey.
